Code Geass Returns with New Series Rozé of the Recapture: Premiere Details Unveiled

An acclaimed anime series often likened to George Orwell's masterpiece 1984 makes its eagerly awaited return to our screens, unveiling a new preview and its release schedule. The premiere teaser for Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture, the latest installment in the beloved Code Geass saga, has been showcased, announcing its streaming launch date as May 10.

Inheriting the universe of the original Code Geass narrations, Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture introduces us to sibling mercenaries Ash, known for his physical prowess and agility, and Rozé, celebrated for his sharp intellect and strategic mind. The teaser gives us a glimpse of the duo embarking on adventures across unknown terrains and battling against mechanized adversaries. The complete teaser is accessible above.

The newly released synopsis (courtesy of CBR) details: "In the Kouwa 7 era, within what was once the Hokkaido district of the United States of Japan now under Neo-Britannian Empire's control, exist sibling mercenaries referred to as the 'Nanashi Mercenaries.' Emperor Charis al Britannia, the 100th to ascend to the Britannian throne, successfully repulsed the Black Knights' efforts to liberate it for four years utilizing an unassailable energy shield known as the Citumpe Barrier. Now, united with Noland and the Einberg Knights, they stand on the verge of thrusting the globe back into turmoil."

Originators Goro Taniguchi and Ichiro Okouchi launched Code Geass in 2006, receiving widespread praise and spanning 50 episodes over two seasons. It chronicles the saga of an exiled prince who acquires the 'power of absolute obedience,' known as Geass, and employs it to spearhead a revolt against the Holy Britannian Empire's dominion. The narrative unfolds in an alternative reality echoing that of George Orwell’s celebrated novel 1984.

Throughout its existence, Code Geass has expanded into various continuations and cinematic versions, including Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection and Code Geass: Akito the Exiled. Marking the first fresh contribution to the series since 2016, Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture distinguishes itself from previous entries under the direction of Yoshimitsu Ohashi, celebrated for his 2000 horror anime Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, with scripts by Noboru Kimura.

The inaugural segment of Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture is set to premiere on Disney Plus on May 10, 2024, with subsequent parts being released on June 7, and July 5, and the final segment on August 2.
