The beginning of the UK's new academic year in September, often celebrated as the start of the term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is a big event. London's Kings Cross Station even makes a special announcement about Platform 9 ¾ on September 1, reminding students not to miss their train to Scotland. These Harry Potter celebrations have impacted the country's sales of boxed games as well.
This is evident as Hogwarts Legacy once again tops the UK's boxed charts, displacing Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon from last week's top position. Among the top ten, the only new addition is Starfield's Premium Edition Upgrade, ranking at number seven.
The top ten games are:
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate
- Starfield Premium Edition Upgrade
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Minecraft
- FIFA 23
Notably, Forspoken, Final Fantasy XVI, and Saints Row, likely influenced by its inclusion in PlayStation Plus, have also reentered the top 40. Gran Turismo 7, likely benefiting from its current movie adaptation, is also among the top 40. Notably absent is Immortals of Aveum, which launched on August 22 but has not appeared in the rankings.
